The 83+ is a suitable calculator, but it is like buying a 9 year old computer. It just doesn't have the memory that the newer calculators have. Please do not buy the TI-89, it will not work with our Navigator wireless system. The TI-Nspire does all that the 89 does and more. It is definitely the calculator of choice. I would also avoid the CAS version of the TI-Nspire, it doesn't work on our system. For the student that cannot afford to purchase there own calculator, we have a few loaner calculators. The student is then responsible for the calculator until the end of the year and responsible for replacement if it is lost or damaged. Mariposa County High School also uses these calculators.
